Clay and Modeling Materials

Preschoolers and young children love to play with clay and dough. They'll enjoy extruding ("squishing out") clay or dough with these high quality plastic extruders. Just insert some dough or clay, press down the plunger, and decorate! These will let them add detail to their clay or dough creations. This set includes 12 extruders in the shapes of leaves, hearts, flowers, stars, and many more. These are easy to use and easy to clean.

Pieces cast with No. 1 Porcelain Slip fire to the translucency of fine porcelain. The working qualities of this white slip make it quite flexible and easy to cast. It releases easily from molds and patches well when necessary. No. 1 Slip is especially preferable in doll making. The recommended firing temperature is Cone 5 (2205°F, 1207°C) . However, in special cases, such as firing small, flat lithophanes, the firing temperature may increase to Cone 6 (2269°F, 1243°C) . Shrinkage at Cone 6 is 11.75% and absorption is 0%. This slip is not talc free, but is ACMI approved for talc content. Comes in a 1 gallon (3.8 L) plastic jug.

Amaco No. 29 is formulated from several clays for plasticity and texture. This light brown earthenware clay contains tiny specs that give it the look of gas-fired and reduced stoneware. It contains a fine grit that makes it stronger and easier to throw larger pieces. This clay is excellent for all types of hand building, slab work, extrusions, sculpture, and wheel throwing. It can be fired at cone 04 to 5 (1911° - 2205°F) . Any Amaco low-fire glaze works well on this body. Because of its wide firing range, Amaco high-fire glazes also achieve good results. This clay is talc free. The 50 lb carton contains two 25 lb blocks of moist clay.
