Silk Screening and Squeegee Use
One of the greatest tools a silk screen artist can have is the squeegee. It is a tool with tilted blades made of rubber. These are attached to a sturdy handle for ease of use. Once ink is applied to the mesh screen, a squeegee is run over the screen to fill out the image. This actions smoothes and evens ink for a better quality of final design. Well crafted squeegees are built to be long lasting. With proper maintenance, a squeegee should never have to be replaced. Before beginning into screen printing, individuals should invest in a high performance squeegee to aid in delivery of beautiful products.
