Block Printing

This smooth, light rubbing pad is made of bamboo bark. Used for wood block printing, the strong grain of its tough surface allows the artist to convey pressure firmly and efficiently to the paper. Its origins can be traced to use in traditional Japanese woodcut printing or Ukiyo-e, a genre of Japanese woodblock prints and paintings produced between the 17th and 20th centuries. The bamboo barens measure 4½" (114 mm) and 1½" (38 mm) in diameter.

This Inking Plate/Bench Hook provides more than one useful purpose. You can place one lip of this sturdy metal plate over the edge of your desk or table and roll ink out in preparation for inking up a plate or block. You can also place a linoleum or wood block on the plate against the other lip to act as a stop when carving. The Inking Plate/Bench Hook is unbreakable and easily cleaned. It measures 9" longA A - 7" wide (22cm longA A - 17cm wide).
