bristol boards can be used in printing promotional material, documents, brochures and envelopes. Paperback book and catalog covers, folders, tickets and tags are often made using bristol board. Students constructing scale models sometimes use bristol board. Two and three ply board is the most commonly used thickness while one ply bristol board is very thin and translucent.
Two dimensional art forms such as technical drawings, illustrations and projects can be accomplished using bristol board. Both front and back are workable surfaces when using bristol board. Surfaces of bristol board have a texture of plate or vellum. With plate, the finish is very smooth like glass and great for pen and ink purposes. Vellum is a finish with a medium texture which is great for crayons, charcoal and chalks. Formal wedding and other types of invitations can be engraved on bristol board as well.
