Mediums are Materials Used by All Artists
Materials that an artist uses are often termed mediums. Painters and artists may use many mediums. There are four mediums that are most often considered by accomplished artists. Acrylic paint is one of the most popular mediums that artists use. Another, tempera uses egg and pigment in a mixture and is used on hard smooth surfaces. It generally requires several layers of Gesso in preparation. Oil is often used on canvases and in preparation of using wood panels. Water color mediums are mixed in water and pigment. These are usually applied to a rough or smooth white paper for painting. Professional grade mediums are excellent selections for beginner or accomplished artists.
