What Mediums Can Be Used on Fabrics and Textiles?
The top choice for painting on fabrics and textiles is obviously fabric paint, since it is designed specifically for use on fabric. Fabric paint will bond to the fabric without a compromise of the integrity of the fabric or textile. Fabric paint, when properly applied, is the perfect fabric and textile medium, because it won’t fade or crack. But fabric paint isn’t the only paint that is used on fabrics. Acrylics are also great for fabrics because they dry quickly and are available in a limitless number of colors. Once dry, acrylics are permanent. They are flexible to a fault and colorfast, making them a good stand in for fabric paint. Oil paint is not an optimal medium for use on fabrics and textiles.
