Decorating Pottery with Sponges
Accomplished potters have various techniques in decorating pieces. Some use brushes of various sizes and shapes while others may use sponges. Sponges can be soaked with paint and used to give mottled or antique effects to pottery pieces. Crafters use sponges for underglazing as well as overglazing. Sponges are relatively inexpensive and a great investment for decorating items. A new trend in decorating is the dripping of paint onto the pottery surface. Sponges give some control over this technique. Decorators can simply squeeze the sponge to make desired amount of paint drip from it onto the piece.
