A Look at Modeling Clay
Malleable products used in sculpting and building are modeling clays. Many art students, children, professionals and hobbyists use modeling clay. Most use modeling tools in order to sculpt, texture, thin, blend, poke, scrape and cut modeled clay into desired shapes and designs.

A very popular type of clay is dough modeling clay. Most dough modeling clays are made of flour, cream of tartar, cornstarch, oil and water. These can have colors added to them when they are made or manufactured. Others can have color added to them afterwards. Some modeling clays are edible while others are not.

Some dough modeling clay is reusable. With some modeling clays, it is necessary to bake in order to preserve the form. Those modeling clays that are reusable are not intended for crafting items that are intended to last. Items made of reusable clays will crack as they dry.
