How to Choose a Painting and Palette Knife
When selecting a painting or palette knife, be sure to look for one that is easy to clean and that you feel comfortable using. You will find spatula-shaped palette knives that have an angle that makes it simple to mix paint colors. A spade-shaped palette knife is also ideal, and it tends to give you a lot of control while blending. The painting knife typically has an elevated handle so that only the blade of the knife makes contact with the surface you’re working on, which makes it a better choice in many instances, as compared to a palette knife. The main purpose of the palette knife is to mix colors, both on and off your canvas. For bold, rough looks, you can use the palette knife right on the canvas to blend your colors. Be sure to clean your knife blade when changing colors.
