Rhodia got its start back in the 1930s when brothers Robert and Henri Verilhac founded a stationary company known as Papeteries Verilhac Freres. The name Rhodia is derived from the river, the Rhone, which flowed by the town of Lyon where the brothers founded their stationary company. It was in 1934 that the production of the famous orange and black notepad began.
