Perhaps no paper in the industry has a history as rich as Cartiera Magnani. This company has been making fine paper for the art industry since the first part of the 15th century! Over the past six centuries, they have learned a few things from their home base in Italy, including how to incorporate old world paper making techniques and the craftsmanship of fine paper makers into the modern world. The result is an ideal balance of fine paper and craftsmanship with state of the art design.
Mangnani had been in business for a few hundred years before they really gained an audience around the world. By the year 1800, the name had begun to be associated with luxury and quality. Mangnani has been a favorite paper of some of the biggest names in the history of the world. Napoleon (yes, the Emperor) selected this type of paper for the cards that were sent out to announce his marriage to Australian Maria Luisa. Salvatore Fiume, Morandi, Chirico, Annigonia, Viani, D’Annuzio, Possenti, and other influential names in the art world have all turned to Magnani for the finest papers upon which to work.
Notably, Magnani paper mills today produce paper that is used for bank notes and currency in addition to art paper and other papers for artists.
