Composed mostly of organic and mineral mono pigments, Fragonard watercolours offer excellent light resistance,even for those colours traditionally known to be very susceptible, such as the madders and the carmines. The heavy concentration of single pigment colours in the line allows for clean colour mixing and intense blends. Colours: The colours are evenly spread across the chromatic circle allowing every painter to create their own palette of colours. They are inspired by Provence, there is Lavender Blue, Olive Green, Madder Lake, Saffron Yelow : a warm and slightly orange yellow, Red Ochre from the quarries of Roussillon, Light Ultramarine Blue, Fragonard Blue and Fragonard Turquoise green (the turquoise of the rocky inlets of Cassis). Some pigments separate into wery fine particles when diluted, creating a particular texture. It depends on the physical characteristics of each pigment. The grains create a particular optical vibration on the paper. Auxiliaries:drawing gum allows you to mask part of your design, the addition of a few drops of ox gall improves the application, anti-UV solvent based varnish protects work without altering the shades. Thinner:water. Cleaning the brushes:water Surfaces:watercolour paper, cardboard... Brushes: The squirrel brush is recommended because of its good holding capacity, especially for applying the background colours.
