The student grade
acrylic paints are designed to have similar characteristics to those
professional acrylics. These student acrylics, however, have a lower pigment concentration, they are inexpensive, and have a smaller range of colors available. More of the expensive ones have pigments that are replicated by their hues, so the colors are designed to be mixed, even if the strength of the color is lower.
Typically cheaper than the professional acrylics, these types of paints are geared more towards the grade school to high school student as the more professional acrylics are more expensive. For the general arts and crafts projects, the student grad acrylics will be the best bet.
These types of student acrylics can be blended together to make additional hues and colors, so those that are a beginning artist, student acrylics would be the way to go. Versatile on almost any surface, this water based paints are also easier to clean—especially brushes and clothing.
In order to keep the student acrylic moist, a palette that will keep your paint workable during your painting. And some artists also keep a mist bottle of water handy to keep the student acrylic paint moist while painting.
